Body mechanics is a term used to describe the ways we move as we go about our daily lives. It includes how we hold our bodies when we sit, stand, lift, carry, bend, and sleep. Poor body mechanics are often the cause of back problems. I always get a visual of a mechanic that works on bodies. I suppose that would be a doctor. But he is always in one of those blue overalls with some grease on it and he has a baseball cap on. I realized after having a bad back at 44 that it was due to how I was assisting my Mom on a daily basis. Helping her in and out of her chair. Reaching way over her to grab the seat belt and pull it over her. I was being kind to her but not to my body.
