Every person that we care for is different from another person who has the exact same diagnosis. No two people will have the same experience with dementia. This is a brain disease and our brains are strange and complex organs. Since everyone who lives with dementia is an individual with a life of family, work, experiences and stories that are only theirs. No one else has the same life. That means that 2 caregivers will not have the same experience. And no 2 people living with dementia will have the same experience. No family will have the same experience. We must make our care personalized. distinctive. unique. Caregiving is not a 1 size fits all occupation. We must make it work for ourselves and the person we love….
